Without Which, Not / Sine Qua Non

The common conceptual axis that unites the work of the two visual artists in an interesting and challenging coexistence is their desire to scrutinize and comprehend the limits of Expression. The process by which man becomes aware of himself and communicates with others.

In a transversal journey into the depths of human existence, the subconscious, transitions, changes, and sequences that follow and take place in a path of self-determination that shapes the expression of the human being internally and externally.

Using as a starting point the “expressive painting” and writing, Maria Stamati evolves her works in space, setting up installations where she often integrates threads and fabric or lace, grid, structures, and plexiglass, creating existential palimpsests with layers of materials, concepts, and symbols.

Costas Vittis composes his own narrative with photographic allegories and symbolic photographic images, which originate from his thoughts, observations, and personal experiences that express the nature of human existence.
